War against mosquitoes

leave a comment »

Since late 2011, I have been bitten by mosquitoes @ our flat.
1. rainy season
2. our flat is of low floor
3. our flat is near to grass field, a nice view @ day time, but a breeding ground for mosquitoes, sigh!

Why am I so serious?
A single bite causes a huge swelling of the size of my ring.

Today (February 7th, 2012) is the worst.
I was bitten @ 5 spots!
My lover consoled me by saying that he will lick them.

I realized that tea tree oil (Thursday Plantation brand) reduce my swelling.

How can I prevent mosquitoes from biting me?
1. apply mosquitoes repellants (in the long term, this is bad for my skin)
2. electric killer for mosquitoes (I do not mind to pay more electric bill).

The art of doing housechores

leave a comment »

We initially plan to go for hiking on the 1st Sunday of February 2012.
But my lover woke up with a fever from his overwork. I made warm macha  milk for him.
After I did some work that takes energy from my mind, I thought that it is time to exercise my body.
First, I removed dust from our bedroom fan, altar, TV console.
I shook our floor mat to remove dust and hang them @ window for germ-killing by sun.
Then, I swept the floor.

Remember to warm up before mopping!
I mopped our floor, 3 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 living room, 1 dining room with energy and passion.
Why? so I can remove oily component.
I sweat! It is a good exercise to excrete toxic from my body.
Of course, the best way to lose sweat (and toxic) is by hiking where one can simultaneously absorb oxygen from greeenery.

TIPS: I used disposable chopstick from take-away to remove hair @ the bathroom. I further use magazine paper to remove the small things.

Gratitude: I am so grateful for our spacious home. Last night, we went to my lover’s relative’s home. So many things! It made my lover said the word “claustrophobic”. It is not that he is experiencing claustrophobic, but he is concerned for those with claustrophobia to live in such tiny dwellings.

Do not put too much things in your room.
Allow some space.
Things that you will only use 1x / quarter can go to the store room.
Things that you will not use for more than 1 year can be donated away.

Opt for white + a themed color.
White allows me to see dirts and dusts easily while cleaning.
I love our white walls, white cabinets, white altar, white bookshelves, white coffee table.
Our sofa is alternatively dressed in white or our themed color.

I hope to share more tips to come in the near future.

Buying and paying for a flat

leave a comment »

Assume a flat costs z amount.
Our monthly salaries are a + b = a+b.
It will take 75x our our salaries to pay for a flat.
However, we need to spend for parents and children, food and clothes.
If we use 22.4% of our combined income to pay for a flat, and without considering interests, it will take us 333.3 mths (~28 years) to complete the payment.
Assuming I am 30 years now, I have to pay until I am 60-65 years old.
We have to be constantly bringing home at least our current salaries.
Now, I understand the sorrow of a senior scientist who told me that if he could re-do his life, he would be an investment banker.

Who says money is not important? My mentor told me that if I have money, I could use it to build a school. Of course, money can have both positive and negative effects, we are to earn and use it wisely.

So, what could I do now to improve our current situations and face upcoming challenges?
(1) increase income (do part-time jobs, do investment).
(2) be an entrepreneur or fund manager.
(3) win lotteries.

Korean Ondol: tips to maximize our home space

leave a comment »

Ondol is traditional Korean room with multiple functions. Rooms are not labeled or reserved for a specific purpose; there is no definite bedroom or dining room. Rather, tables and mats are brought in as needed. Most people sit and sleep on the floor using thick mats. Underneath the floors are stone or concrete flues (we can save on this since we are not experiencing harsh winter).

How to maximize our space at home?
No need bed frame.
Use foldable mattresses + mat beneath.
No need sofa.
Use stackable plastic chairs or rollable carpets with soft pillows.
Foldable tables and with wheels (for dining, studying).
Ceiling-high wardrobe.

Less furniture, more space. I like this idea.
The less we have, the more we feel.

Darling agrees that we adopt this ondol-kind of system, given that each tiny corner of houses is so expensive in this country. I look forward to owing a house, though we will be slaving for paying the mortgage. However, I believe that my income will not grow in a straight line, we will make it BIG.

Let’s learn from the Korean.

My dream dog 傻喜

leave a comment »

I told myself that I am going to end the work last night at 1am, and to go bed as I was tired. Yet, I only managed to sleep at almost 3.30am. Not because I am insomniac, but I was hooked by lovely dog pictures and the stories of taking care it.

It’s quite unbeliavable, for a dog-fearing person like me. When I was in high school, I went to Dad’s friend home in the weekend, and I was chased by dogs. But I guess like persons, there are really lovely and nice dogs out there, I am sharing a house with one now. She is so thirsty of love, wants people to caress her so much.

I want a labrador, white and creamy, with long eyelashes, like Sassy. I called her in this intonation: 傻喜, reflecting her personality. The 傻 here means innocence. Sometimes I would add the surname of Darling (in Mandarin), to imagine she is part of the family.

I want to name my future labrador Sassy too! Darling will have the opportunities to groom a ‘President’s Dog’, who can speak five different languages, and perform excellent acts. It is Darling’s way to irritate me, as I have a lot of plans for our future progenies. For me, I just want Sassy to be given my love ❤

This images portrays the 傻 quality of my 傻喜.

This is just reminding me on the scene Sassy chasing away the black cat who wants to eat my fish.

Waking up from my day-dreaming, I realize that there are so many issues to deal with:
# I am so nomad that I haved lived in over 20 rooms/houses scattered over 5 countries, in the over past 10 years. In fact, I am going to live in California this summer, then I am moving to little red dot after summer. Who will be taking care of Sassy if I am required to be away for job?
# Spaces are very expensive in the little red dot. It’s not wise to let Sassy to live in a tiny compartment. The neighbours are likely to complain too, unless I live in a private accommodation.
# I am not rich. I remember my former landlady bought a Jack Russell for S$900 two years ago, but that Jack Russel is so untrained, shitted in my room. Then, we have to bring Sassy to vet, which are most likely affordable by the rich. There are also pet-care, must teach Sassy how to swim, how to socialize (she is by nature a social one), how to be a pretty dog.

I remember a China official, if I’m not wrong he’s Premier Zhu, was interviewed if he likes pets. His answer strikes everyday-people-like-me, it’s already very challenging to raise a child. Not everyone has sufficient resources to groom a child, people are struggling to provide food, clothing, shelter, education for their child/ren.

Yet, I still want a Sassy ❤
Perhaps I should learn to be contented, to be happy without having it.
Yet, if you have a white creamy labrador puppy to give away, I will be willing to accept (most likely after I am having a permanent house). Read permanent as staying for more than three years, without the need to move away due to renting contract expiration. Best if the land and the house is under my name.
