Dream of love in the spring 2012

with 2 comments

What I want for spring 2012
@~@ minority tribe costumes with natural scenery + horse + kungfu.
@~@ Qipao with wooden umbrella + Shanghai collar black suit in ancient town.
@~@ Bridal gown with super long veil in wetland / greenery + water (flying water) + snow mountain.
@~@ colorful gowns (that cover my large lower legs).
@~@ spring flowers (never ending fascination!)

@~@ MOUNTAIN + GREENERY + WATER
Tree immersed in water is SEXY!
REFLECTIONs are always so reflecting.

@~@ COLOR
Why am I in love with TURQUISE CYAN? Jiuzhaigou! see Vision_063
RED is always making you the center of attraction (good with greenery or snow backdrop).
For future project, I can wear something on my wedding gown to create a new fashion! see Chengdu_NanHu_11, for more inspiration.

@~@ FLY
I love everything that can fly.
FLYing WATER: e.g. Chengdu_ChaoYangLake_02.
FLYing GOWN or flying VEIL e.g. Chengdu_Jiuzhaigou_007, Jiuzhaigou_1, Chengdu_Xindu_04.
Do you know that flying gown can make you look like a butterfly?

@~@ TIMELESS
Classic e.g. Chengdu_MuGeCuo_68, Chengdu_Jiuzhaigou_002
Probably the secret of being classic lies in the fact that you cannot really see the face, so they are more like representatives of universal lovers.

@~@ CINEMATOGRAPHY
Presenting parts as a part of story.
Macro on flowers / memorables.
half-body of 1 lover + full body of another lover.
e.g. Chengdu_Jiuzhaigou_051

@~@ CHALLENGING
Bride in gown sitting on top of tree, especially tree immersed in water.
Kungfu.
Climb to the roofs of ancient town.
GG carries MM (like what we did in Bohinj).

@~@ FRAMING
Tell your photographer:
1. shoot up
2. shoot 1/3
3. shoot classic (cannot clearly see face).

@~@ POST-PROCESSING
smoke / fog effects always add to the romantic feeling.
strong SUN effect e.g. Chengdu_Xindu_13.
add noise + unsharp mask: gives a sense of harsh environment and strong characters e.g. Chengdu_Xindu_43.

@~@ HAIRSTYLE
2 chopsticks on your head are SEXY!

Above points are based on analysis on love photos:
GuoSeTianXiang: 61 photos
JiuZhaiGou: 88 photos
MuGeCuo: 68 photos
NanHu: 22 photos
RuoErGai: 25 photos
ShangLi ancient town: 20 photos
Xindu Bridge: 68 photos
XiangSong Lake: 17 photos
ShiXiang Lake: 31 photos
and so many others …

Beautiful places near ChengDu for photography

@~@ 九寨沟 (JiuZhaiGou Valley): reminds me on Plitvice.
Both are possibly Heaven on Earth.
Do you know that travertine-damned lake generate millions of $ from tourism yearly?
Think of Huanglong, JiuZhaiGou in China.
Pamukkale in Turkey.
Plitvice in Croatia.
Yellowstone Park, Wyoming and Kakadu, Australia.
I pray for the conservation of the travertine (钙华) for our children and grandchildren.

A beautiful memory from my life:
We hiked at Plitvice in a beautiful autumn day.
We had our lunch gazing at the surreal lake.
The only minus point is the transport is a challenge, we almost hitch-hike because we thought we miss the last bus.
But the heaven-like scenery worth all the troubles.

@~@ 木格措 (Mugecuo):
Snow. Honestly it is very difficult to take photos while it is snowing.
Tips: the best time to take photos is right after snowing, then you can add on snow effect during post-processing.
Rainy.
Sunny.

@~@ 上里古镇 (ShangLi ancient town):
I think the ancient towns of DaYan and ShuHe are more oriental.

@~@ 国色天香 (GuoSeTianXiang theme park):
Theme park is always fun.
Merry Go Round is so Colorful.
Idea: lollipop, princess tiara.

@~@ 南湖 (NanHu Garden):
It is an artificial theme park.
You can find similar theme park elsewhere.

@~@ 新都桥 (XinDu Bridge):
especially beautiful in autumn with artist’s palette of colors.

@~@ 香颂湖 (XiangSong Lake):
The wheat-alike grass reminds me on our photo taking @ Botanical Garden in summer 2011.

@~@ 宽窄巷子 (KuanZhaiXiangZi) : old town.

@~@ 川大 (ChuanDa / SiChuan University)

@~@ 非遗公园 (FeiYi garden):
lavender in July.

@~@ 石象湖 (SheXiang Lake): sea of flowers! April. Tulips. Note: planted flowers.

@~@ 天台山 (TianTai Mt)

@~@ 朝阳湖 (ChaoYang Lake)

@~@ 浅水湾 (QianShui Bay): confusing with the Repulse Bay of Hong Kong.

@~@ 塔公草原 (TaGong grassland): sea of wild flowers! Can be cloudy like every highland, weather (read: luck) dependent.

@~@ 雅拉雪山 (YaLa snow mountain)

Below are probably too tough for women in bridal gowns to reach!

@~@康定 (Kangding)
Glorious sunset over Tibetan architecture.
Colorful autumn.
Imagine the Khampa, a Tibetan people whose heavy turquoise jewelry, forward manners, and habit of carrying knives match their reputation for toughness.

@~@峨眉山 (Emei Mt)
Shaolin.
乐山大佛 (Dafo, Le Shan): a testament to faith and belief.

Standing beneath the Buddha’s feet will be a humbling experience for me.

@~@ SiGuNiang.
I know a friend who made it to the SiGuNiang.
He trains running everyday, it takes DETERMINATION and HARD WORK.

@~@ Giant Panda.
It costs an average person like me a bomb (RMB 1,000) to hug a baby panda.
It is ok for me not to hug, I can understand how mothers worry when their babies are carried by others, so do mother pandas!

Make sure you get there in the morning (the latest by 9am) when they are feeding pandas as most of the other time they just sleep.
Don’t forget the charming red pandas there!

Photography inspirations

leave a comment »

In spring 2011, for the purpose of seeking ideas for beautiful shots of lovers, I have been collecting more than a thousand inspiring ideas, and viewing even much more, from wedding photographers and world-class cinematographers.

How did I start fall in love with photography, especially people photography?
After finishing my final exams in university, I became more diligent in visiting library, watching artistic movies.
Then, I also met my 1st master of photography at 1 of the world-class universities. He is talented, handsome, and kind. He encouraged me that I had the eyes for beautiful angles. I love beautiful women, lovely children, and majestic sceneries. I love LOVE.

Photographing others need a set of skills, being photographed need another set of skills. Of course if we know both, we will do better in each of these.

How to be photographed beautiful?
practice practice practice!
how to smile kindly and charmingly?
Take note of our body language.
Our hands.
Our legs.
Hide those our weak points (e.g. tummy, remember to tuck in).
Highlight our strong and outstanding features.
I also consider learning dancing as it will capture the grace of our motion.
Remember, photographs allow us to scrutinize more carefully than movies, so we want to bring our best.
Peace be with you!

Shanghai Restoration Project

leave a comment »

Thanks to Michelle for introducing them, I love you always!

Who are the Shanghai Restoration Project?
*. a contemporary electronic music group formed by Chinese-American producer Dave Liang.
*. inspired by the Shanghai jazz bands of the 1930s. I love this!

The Shanghai Restoration Project – Babylon of the Orient.

The Shanghai Restoration Project – “Nanking Road (Instrumental)”. This song reminded me on my last summer in California, simply because my roommate loved to play this while driving. Feel so high-spirited!

Shanghai Restoration Project – Miss Shanghai. I love the vocal by Dutch artist DEZ (www.dezibelle.com), the voice brings you to a lovely combination of SOFT and SEXY woman. But seeing the real vocalist singing did not bring that kind of feeling. I am sorry for being biased, but we need the RIGHT MATCH to bring up a certain kind of experience.

Jade Buddha Temple by Di Johnston (vocals) by The Shanghai Restoration Project: gave us a sensation of the consoling the-girl-next-door from the East. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsZTVSY5PdA). This song has a calming effect 🙂

Kanon Wakeshima (cello, neoclassical, dark ambient)

I love the long hair with curly part at the end.
